Domček v záhrade (pronounce as: [dom-tʃek v zahrade] means ‘a little house/cozy cottage in the garden‘) offers peace, tranquillity and comfort of a detached weekend house (located in the yard of an urban villa) with a spacious garden located in the centre of a charming town Liptovský Hrádok and in the heart of Liptov – the most popular Slovak tourist region. Such a unique location enables guests to spend enjoyable and undisturbed time just like ‘at home’ (including a roofed terrace as well as a professionally maintained garden) and at the same time to be able to ‘pop into town’ anytime by foot (to the store, restaurant, go for a coffee, ice cream or beer) and use its entire infrastructure, or possibly just to go for a stroll into the town or take a walk around its surroundings (for example to the castle or to Skalka with a magnificent panorama view, around the dam of Váh and Belá, or to take a hike in the hills and woods behind Váh - crossing the borders of the National Park Nízke Tatry). Behind the city limits, guests can take any direction (literally) to explore captivating nature scenery, as well as other attractions of Liptov and surrounding mountains, which line this beautiful region.

Domček v záhrade is operated by a family company Hrádok s.r.o. (a part of a family ‘holding’ of the Kubovič family) which was founded in 2020 for the purpose of more efficient utilisation of capacities of the existing recreation house (reconstructed to the current condition in 2003). As a part of the preparation for being tourist-friendly, Domček v záhrade (aside from its new name) was refurbished and equipped with e.g. a completely new kitchen (including all appliances) and a dining table, new kitchen and bathroom sinks, more powerful hot-water boiler, a modern TV set and fast internet, a special bed in the left bedroom (which can be either separated or adjoined as a double bed), flowers on the terrace (with an irrigation system), as well as new decoration by pictures and moss. Operation responsibilities of Domček have been taken over particularly by the son Peter (attorney-at-law by profession), who has been spending holidays and day-offs here since his childhood and knows the town and its surroundings in detail, and who has gained his own experience by travelling the world and understands what tourists and guests like and appreciate (and contrarily, what they dislike). A great support and helping hand are given by the mom Tatiana (pharmacist by profession), who was born in the neighbouring ‘bigger house’ and spent there her entire childhood and youth.

The town Liptovský Hrádok is the centre of the upper (east) Liptov with a rich forestry and mining history. The town serves as a perfect location for tourism, as it is surrounded from all sides with nature (and other) attractions that are quickly and easily reachable. The iconic pillar of the ‘national mountain’ Kriváň (and of High Tatras) dominates the north-east horizon and on a way there you can stop at the open-air museum of folkloric architecture in Pribylina, above which perk colourful West Tatras (with its peak Bystrá) lining the entire northern border of the upper Liptov and defining borders with Poland. The district town Liptovský Mikuláš is situated west (10 km) of Hrádok and behind it – on the river Váh – lies the water tank Liptovská Mara with two big aquaparks nearby (Tatralandia and Bešeňová). The southern border of the upper Liptov is shaped by a broad pillar of Low Tatras with the tallest mountains Ďumbier and Chopok, Demänovská valley (and its caves), the ski centre Jasná or Jánska valley (reachable by foot from Hrádok). And as long as you don´t feel like travelling by car all the time, you can use a train or a bus (the train station and the bus stop are only about 150 meters far from Domček) or possibly ride a bike or take a walk.

Terms of Payment:

  • payment in advance - into the account of the owner subject to an invoice issued upon the confirmation of booking
  • payment via card or in cash not currently possible
  • invoice is due within 5 days upon issuance (sending via e-mail)
  • the owner may cancel the booking in the case of a delay in payment
  • invoices are issued free from VAT (the owner is not a VAT payer)
